Fans of this hat love their cap-shaped look.
Are you a fan of wool? Fabric made in Italy, thick and plush, these hats emerge from the scraps our Boiled Woolen Sweater that are too precious to waste. We only sew as many as the scraps make possible. They have chunky, thick, richly sculpted tactile details.
Did we say "wool" enough? To avoid any misunderstanding, if you have ever had allergies/sensory issues with wearing wool, these hats aren't for you. Wool is both on the outside of the hat and against your head.
This hat is an average adult head size, with stretch to go over most heads without feeling too tight. We designed a looser fit for less hairdo smush, but will still cling and stay on.
This all purpose size seems to fit the bill on all but the smallest adult heads. If you know yours runs small, feel free to reach out, we can help!
100% wool
Hand wash COLD and dry flat if needed. Do not put in the dryer. Made in the USA of imported Italian fabric.

This season's offering: We sourced Made in the USA 20 oz. cotton blend has some recycled poly to help keep shrinking to a minimum. Do you remember that favorite college sweatshirt you had back in the day? This is that same classic, thick, structured material, brushed on the inside. Snuggly warm, drapes away from the body.
Longer than average sleeves are designed to be rolled to show the soft, brushed side of the fabric. Dress isn't meant to be tight/snug. If more fitted is your thing, you might want to order a size down or choose a different dress entirely. Think "sweatshirt" for this one. You wouldn't expect a sweatshirt to cling.
80% Cotton 20% Recycled Poly Machine wash cold, and air dry or tumble dry on low. Avoid higher temps when washing and drying. Sewn in the USA of USA-Made Fabrics

Roomy, non-clingy, layerable. This pullover borrows some of the fit of our sweatshirt styles, but has some nuanced edits.
New, narrower cut on the forearms balances out the roomy torso. Stretch knit helps it stay in place when the sleeves are pushed up. Ample, long sleeves.
Choose "petite" for a shorter arm length, it is cut a cuff length shorter, appx. 3". Note that even at petite length, it will still likely keep its intended design of landing past the bend of the wrist. (All arms are different, of course, but from experience with walk-in customers, "cuff length shorter" seems to work as the most common measurement edit for shorter arms).
Sleeve widens out toward the upper arm to still be able to layer over a tees or workout tops. This top has the same looser, angled torso and a shaped, non-banded hemline as some popular sweatshirts we have sold in past seasons.
The medium-thick French terry has its place in any season's wardrobe. Will drape toward the body with enough room to keep from sticking to waistbands or hips.
Bamboo from Rayon/Cotton/Spandex blend Made in the USA of import fabric. Machine wash cold, air dry. Do not put in dryer.
The top is so comfy and the sleeves are just right for me in the shorter length. I love all my tops from National Picnic.

Fit notes: Designed to fit very blousy when true to size. The intended vibe is similar to a painter's smock, billowy and loose. Ordering a size down will give you a closer to body fit, if you prefer.
The weight and structure of these snuggly fabrics make it a dressy alternative to a sweatshirt. It can easily pop on over another layer. The elastic at the gathered cuffs isn't constricting, will not press against your arm. The sleeve length is a strategic distance from your busy hands, while keeping you warm and showing off your bracelets. The clean lines of the dropped shoulder drapes flatly and keeps the volume of the pouf from overpowering. Bust darts for shape.
Current fabrics are 100% cotton flannel. Machine wash cold, air dry. Do not put in dryer. Warm iron if needed. Sewn in the USA of industry surplus fabrics, origin not known.
I love National Picnic clothing-each piece always fits well. This shirt looks great-will be back soon.

Made from cotton lawn with a charming retro print called "Cigar Box", tans and browns share similar color stories with tobaccos and wood tones. The scale of the print gives it a feed-sacks-and-sepia-tones early 20th century vibe.
Elastic gathered neckline. Freely drapes over the torso with a loose blousy fit. Elastic cuff sits past the elbow. Moderate length can be tucked in.
Fit notes: Order true to size.
Best Care: Machine wash cold with like colors. For a wonderfully rumpled appearance, tumble dry on low heat with fabric softener and remove immediately after tumbling. For a crisp appearance, air dry and then iron or steam on cotton setting. Avoid hIgher temperatures that will excessively shrink natural fibers.
On the description page for this Clover Market Special it mentions that it ran small. I'm so glad that the designer included the sizing in the product description. I normally wear a 2X, had the description not included that information I would have ordered my regular size and then would have not been able to wear it. Because the production description included the fit notation I ordered a 3X thinking I would use it as a top layer. It is too snug for that so I will save it for spring/summer. The print is cute and the style reminds me of the 'peasant' tops I wore in the 1960's.

This is more like a long sleeve tee, but designed with roomy armholes and torso so it can be layered as a lightweight overlayer if needed.
Narrower cut on the forearms balances out the roomy torso, so sleeves stay in place when they are pushed up. Ample, long sleeves.
Some sizes will be made to order, allow about a week to sew before shipping.
95 Cotton/5 Spandex. Oeko-tex® prints. Made in the USA of import fabric. Machine wash cold, air dry. Avoid washing with tougher fabrics like canvas or jeans—abrasive friction can wear down surface printed design. Do not put in dryer.
I’m so thankful to find National Picnic, from the stitching to the fabric- exceptional! I don’t regret my purchase at all and the fabric is made to endure.
